Welcome to the Personal Support Worker Registry of Ontario
Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are one of the largest groups in Ontario’s health workforce which provide frontline care services to some of the province's most vulnerable citizens.
The Personal Support Worker (PSW) Registry launched in February 2018, to provide oversight of the PSW workforce, and assure the public and employers that the PSWs on the Registry meet the eligibility requirements needed to provide safe and competent care.
About the Registry
The PSW Registry will be further developed and implemented over a three-year period by the Michener Institute of Education at UHN. The Registry recognizes PSWs as trusted and skilled partners in Ontario’s health care system. It elevates the profile of PSWs, and helps bring them in line with other health care workers in Ontario, whose background information is accessible through an online database.
It is a source to verify a PSW’s credentials, conduct, and competence. Employers may refer to it to fill vacancies. This Registry has no affiliation with the previous PSW registry, which was closed in 2016.
